Our methods and sources

How we work out your resultsहमारी पद्धति · शास्त्र और गणना

Every result here is calculated the way Indian tradition calculates it, following the classical texts below, and checked against published panchangs. This page shows exactly what we follow for each reading, and what we never do.

1

Calculated, not guessed

The Moon, Sun and planets are worked out from astronomical formulas (Jean Meeus, Astronomical Algorithms), in the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa: the standard India's Calendar Reform Committee adopted in 1955, which Indian panchangs use.

2

Checked against panchangs

We test our numbers against Shubh Panchang, Drik Panchang and Prokerala's worked examples. For example, our Moon enters Mithun within minutes of 10:06 pm on 29 October 2026, the time Shubh Panchang gives. Every planet stays within a few arcminutes of an independent astronomy library from 2000 to 2035.

3

Shown on every report

Each paid report shows how it was worked out (the numbers, the kootas, the dasha, the nakshatra pada), so you or your family pandit can check every step.

Kundli Milan

What we calculate

  • Each person's Moon nakshatra and rashi from the birth date, time and place.
  • The Ashtakoota guna milan: 36 gunas across the eight kootas: Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot and Nadi.
  • Nadi and Bhakoot dosha, and the Manglik check (Mars from the Lagna). Dosha cancellations are explained in the report, never quietly added to the score.

What we follow

  • Muhurta Chintamaniमुहूर्त चिन्तामणि

Daivajna Rama. The eight kootas of marriage matching, in its chapter on vivaha.

  • Brihat Parashara Hora Shastraबृहत् पाराशर होरा शास्त्र

The nakshatras and the natural friendship of the grahas (Graha Maitri).

✓ Checked: the Vashya and Gana tables as published by OnlineJyotish, and our total against Prokerala's worked example.

Daily horoscope and 6-month forecast

What we calculate

  • The positions of the nine grahas each day, and your Moon sign (Chandra rashi) and nakshatra.
  • Your Vimshottari dasha: the 120-year cycle of planetary periods that starts from your birth nakshatra.
  • Gochar: how each graha's transit falls from your Moon sign, and Sade Sati or Dhaiya when Saturn is in the 12th, 1st or 2nd house (or the 4th or 8th) from it.

What we follow

  • Brihat Parashara Hora Shastraबृहत् पाराशर होरा शास्त्र

Attributed to Maharishi Parashara. The nakshatras, the Vimshottari dasha and its periods.

  • Phaladeepikaफलदीपिका

Mantreswara. The houses from the Moon sign where each graha is traditionally favourable in transit.

✓ Checked: Moon sign and nakshatra change times against Shubh Panchang; widely published transits (Saturn into Meen, 29 March 2025); every planet against an independent astronomy library, 2000–2035.

Numerology (Mulank)

What we calculate

  • Mulank (root number) from your day of birth, Bhagyank (destiny number) from your full date of birth, and Namank (name number) from the letters of your name.
  • Each number's ruling graha (4 is Rahu, 7 is Ketu), and how your numbers get on, through those grahas' natural friendship.
  • Your personal year and the number of each month ahead, and your dates that add up to your Mulank.

What we follow

  • Cheiro's Book of NumbersCheiro · 1926

The Chaldean letter values for names, the system most Indian numerologists use.

  • Brihat Parashara Hora Shastraबृहत् पाराशर होरा शास्त्र

Natural friendship of the grahas, with Rahu read as Saturn and Ketu as Mars (शनिवद् राहु, कुजवद् केतु).

Name check and baby naming letter

What we calculate

  • A baby's naming letter (naam akshar): the syllable of the Moon's nakshatra pada at birth, one of 108.
  • Your name number against your Mulank and Bhagyank, and spellings that sound the same but suit them better: an extra letter or a longer vowel, never a change to the first letter.
  • Like many Indian numerologists, we avoid name totals of 4 (Rahu) and 8 (Saturn).

What we follow

  • The Avakahada chakraअवकहडा चक्र

The naming syllables of the 108 padas, as printed in Indian panchangs. Where panchangs differ (Shravana, and the last pada of Uttara Bhadrapada), we show both.

  • Cheiro's Book of NumbersCheiro · 1926

    The Chaldean letter values.

✓ Checked: all 108 syllables against two published nakshatra letter tables.

Palm reading

What we calculate

  • Your hand type (earth, air, fire or water) from the shape of the palm and fingers.
  • Your heart, head, life and fate lines: their shape, length and depth. Your photo is looked at three times and each feature takes the majority answer, so the same photo reads the same way. It is never stored.
  • The life line describes energy and how you live; we never read it as the length of life.

What we follow

  • Samudrika Shastraसामुद्रिक शास्त्र

The Indian tradition of reading the body and the lines of the hand (hasta rekha).

  • Cheiro's Language of the HandCheiro · 1894

The classic guide to the heart, head, life and fate lines.

Tarot

What we calculate

  • Three cards from the full 78-card deck: the 22 Major and 56 Minor Arcana, read as where you stand now, what's in the way, and the way forward for your question.
  • Our deck's art is our own; the cards and their meanings follow the Rider–Waite–Smith tradition.

What we follow

  • The Pictorial Key to the TarotA. E. Waite · 1910

The traditional meanings of the Rider–Waite–Smith cards (1909).

Self-Reiki

What the practice is

  • Seven hand positions from the crown to the lap, along the seven chakras, with slow breathing and an affirmation at each.
  • A practice for relaxation and reflection. It doesn't diagnose or treat anything.

What we follow

  • Usui ReikiMikao Usui · Japan, 1922

Self-treatment with the hands, the root of every Reiki lineage.

  • Ṣaṭ-cakra-nirūpaṇaषट्चक्र निरूपण · 1577

The classical description of the chakras, known in English through Arthur Avalon's The Serpent Power (1919).

Mantras in our kits and readings

Where they come from

  • We use only fixed, traditional mantras, written in Devanagari with a transliteration. Nothing in Sanskrit is ever made up.
  • A day's or a dasha's mantra follows its graha, as in navagraha puja.

What we follow

  • Gayatri mantraऋग्वेद ३.६२.१०

    Rigveda 3.62.10.

  • Om Namah Shivayaश्री रुद्रम्

From the Shri Rudram, Krishna Yajurveda (Taittiriya Samhita 4.5).

  • Om Gam Ganapataye Namahगणपति अथर्वशीर्ष

The seed syllable "gam" of the Ganapati Atharvashirsha.

The texts on our shelf

Every reading on this site follows one or more of these. Where a reading uses a modern standard, it's named too.

What we never do

Tradition is for reflection and comfort. So, whatever the reading:
